Riverina Water operates under the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines (ADWG), managed by the National Health and Medical Research Council.
The guidelines provide a framework for water regulators and suppliers on monitoring and managing drinking water quality. It is a preventive management approach that encompasses all steps in water production from catchment to consumer, and aims to assure safe, good quality drinking water.

The EPA's focus is on making those subject to environmental regulation aware of Government and community expectations about the protection of our environment and the health of local communities, by raising general awareness of regulatory requirements and delivering strong compliance and enforcement programs
