Vietnamese delegation visits the Riverina
Nov 09, 2023
Water Utility representatives from An Giang Province in Vietnam have toured the region in partnership with Riverina Water.
This week a group of 9 visitors from An Giang Centre for Rural Water Supply and Sanitation in Vietnam were with us touring all our facilities, talking with our staff and learning about the way we do things here at Riverina Water.
The visit came about through a partnership between the Australian Water Association and Vietnam National Centre for Rural Water Supply and Sanitation. It was formed in 2019 with the aim of sharing technologies and water management practices between our countries. Three Australian water utilities were selected to participate. Our organisation was paired with the An Giang Centre for Rural Water Supply and Sanitation and staff travelled to Vietnam for a first visit in 2019. However the global Covid pandemic put further travel plans on hold until now.
The 2023 Vietnamese delegation have toured our new Wagga Water Treatment Plant while here, as well as visiting many of our outlying rural facilities. They have been able to observe maintenance works in progress and participate in a number of workshops with Riverina Water staff.
Our Vietnamese counterparts from An Giang Province have greatly enjoyed their time here in Wagga and have formally expressed interest in the partnership continuing into the future.
With thanks to partnership facilitator The Australian Water Association, supported by the Australian Government via the Australian Water Partnership.
