Enriching Communities program to fund 16 new regional projects

Almost $100,000 in grant funding is flowing to 16 community groups across the region thanks to Riverina Water’s Annual Community Grants Funding Program.
Residents in Wagga Wagga City, Lockhart Shire, Greater Hume and Federation councils will share in thebbenefits of Riverina Water’s fifth annual grants program.
Since its inception in 2019, Riverina Water’s grants program has invested more than $1.7 million back into its community; supporting 183 diverse projects across 67 organisations, clubs and community groups across Riverina Waters supply area.
“The program makes a significant impact to the socio-cultural and environmental wellbeing of those living in and visiting our supply area,” said Riverina Water’s Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Crakanthorp.
The Enriching Communities program supports activities that meet the key objectives of community, health and wellbeing, water conservation & education, arts & culture, and sustainability & environment.
Riverina Water Chairperson Councillor Tim Koschel said It was pleasing to receive many high calibre applications.
“The calibre of applications created a highly competitive pool which made the decision-making process both challenging and rewarding.” Cr Koschel said.
“We are extremely pleased to provide much needed funding for 16 diverse and innovative projects during a cost-of-living crisis; from exercise programs to vital infrastructure upgrades and more.
“The range of funded projects includes secure access lockers for the Toy Library Wagga Wagga, funding for Meals on Wheels in our supply area and stormwater recycling for the Pro Patria Centre’s garden development.”
Funding allocations for the Enriching Communities program have been provided to each of the four Councils in Riverina Water’s supply area, with $40,000 for Wagga Wagga City Council, and $20,000 each for Lockhart Shire, Greater Hume and Federation.
