Modest increase to water fees and charges in 2023-24
Jun 22, 2023
Through strategic planning and good financial management, our water charges are continually some of the lowest in the state.
An average residential bill will increase by just $34 a year in 2023-24 in Riverina Water’s budget.
The Operational Plan 2023/24 includes the modest increase to fees and charges; along with a proposed capital works program over the next four years of $78.9M.
Riverina Water Chairperson, Councillor Tim Koschel, said the increase balances being financially responsible and keeping water affordable for the community, business and industry.
“Our mission is to provide our community with safe, reliable water at the lowest sustainable cost,” Cr Koschel said.
“Through strategic planning and good financial management, our water charges are continually some of the lowest in the state; in fact, this is our first increase to our availability charges since 2014/15.
“We understand that the cost of living is rising across all areas, so we are proud that these proposed price changes have been kept to a minimum – an average of 65 cents per week for an average household.”
In 2023-24, Riverina Water will roll out $14.5M in capital works, including investing more than $5.7M in water mains, services and meters and almost $3.5M in treatment plants, pumping stations and reservoirs. Design and planning work on Riverina Water’s solar plant will also be completed in 2023-24, with the plant set to save millions in electricity costs in the future.
