Our Annual Report for 2023-24 has been released
The 2023-24 financial year was again successful for Riverina Water, with several achievements across the organisation.
Riverina Water enjoyed a sound financial year, with a modest 3% increase in fees and charges, or about $34 a year for the average customer. This sees water charges for our community remain as some of the lowest in the state.
We provided 14,870 megalitres of drinking water to customers, and increased customer service connections from 33,779 to 34,621. We also continued proactive management of future water supply with just under 13km of the 42km pipeline from Boree Creek to Morundah completed. When finished, this pipeline will replace the old, isolated water treatment plant at Morundah and provide high quality drinking water to customers.
We again received outstanding results from our annual customer survey. The survey had more than 500 responses from across Riverina Water’s supply area. We added new questions to the survey around customer priorities, including water reliability and water quality. Overall satisfaction with water reliability was very high with an average score of 4.8 out of 5, while all water quality indicators remained rated as at a high or very high level of satisfaction.
We continued to enhance the customer service experience with the introduction of our new customer service billing system. The new system has streamlined tasks, including customer service requests, and significantly reduced turn-around times for the issuing for Section 603 Certificates.
In 2023-24, we continued to implement our Community Engagement Strategy to support the residents who are at the center of everything we do. We were pleased to provide donations and sponsorships to organisation across our four constituent councils with over $64,945 in financial support provided to 32 events, organisations and initiatives. We also continued our popular grants program providing $100,000 to community projects across our supply.
As part of our commitment to supporting youth initiatives, our projects engineering team supported the Science and Engineering Challenge (SEC) for a second year. SEC is a nation-wide outreach program focused on inspiring students to consider a career in science and engineering. We also supported the Build a Bridge and get over it! 3-day camp aimed at encouraging students in year 10 to 12 to consider a career in engineering.
