“Community grants are an integral part of our Customer and Community Engagement Strategy and this is the fifth year we’ve run a program,” CEO Andrew Crakanthorp said.

“As an organisation we are committed to doing more than supplying water – we want to enable our region to thrive and enrich the lives of the people who call the Riverina home.

"Once again, grant applications can address any of our primary focus areas: community, health and wellbeing, water conservation and education, arts and culture, and sustainability and the environment.

“The Enriching Communities program is accepting applications until 28 October. I highly encourage eligible groups and clubs to seize this opportunity and collaborate with us to support community projects and initiatives.”

Riverina Water has held four previous grants programs under different formats, making a variety of projects possible such as upgrades to community facilities, sporting infrastructure, multicultural art projects and First Nations programs. Last year’s Enriching Communities grant round saw funding awarded to groups such as Riding for the Disabled Wagga, Holbrook Meals on Wheels, the Lockhart Historical Society, and the Oaklands Memorial Hall.

The Enriching Communities funding allocations for each Council in Riverina Water’s supply area are $40,000 for Wagga Wagga City Council, and $20,000 each for Lockhart Shire, Greater Hume and Federation Councils.

“Our network spans four local government areas, extending from north of Wagga to Humula, south to Woomargama, and west to Oaklands and Morundah,” Mr Crakanthorp said.

“We have allocated funding pools for each council area within our supply area, ensuring that communities and organisations of all sizes can benefit from this program.”
